Are your emotions getting the better of you?

Though seemingly unrelated to the area of finance, however, it has a lot to do with finances. Our emotions play a massive role in making us decide how we spend our money.

The way we feel on a given day, has a direct correlation on how you will spend your money. Many of us are so in our feelings that we shop, shop, shop away hoping that with each purchase it will make us feel good. And the notion of retail therapy has not helped as it has given a way to making it acceptable to spend what you may not have in order to feel better as a form of therapy.

However, it is more important to deal with what truly is the root problem, why are you feeling bored, discouraged, low etc. What has made you feel this way and how can that be addressed properly?

Instead of putting yourself into further consumerism debt, try to address what really is making you feel a certain way. Once you can identify the root cause, it’s time to see how best you can stop feeling that way, therefore disassociate feeling better with spending money.
