To buy or not to buy?
LESS IS MORE
I have found that as part of the journey of financial freedom, less has definitely become more. There has been a mindset and transformation, about how I feel about things! Things are just things, and the true value really should really be how much joy, happiness and purpose a thing represents in your life.
You have a mental evaluation of things, things you already have in your possession and for all future purchases. You start to really understand that you do a lot of things to make you happy, often having too many things can leave you stressed by the lack of finances buying leaves you with and the lack of space you have in your life due to having so many things. There is definitely something to be said about having a clutter free environment and both in your homes and in your minds.
I have also learnt to only purchase things that have multiple purposes and have really useful purposes. That way you don’t have to use items once and find space to store them and soon enough your storage is overflowing with stuff! And if you were to look at the money you have used on these things and the stress it’s now giving you with storage, did these things add to your happiness or your stress?
I have started to have an understanding as to whether a purchase is necessary, my recommendation from these lessons, is to ask yourself before each purchase:
1. Is it fit for its function and for why you want to buy it?
2. Will it be of frequent use in my life?
3. In 6 months time will it still be useful in my life?
4. Is it stuff = clutter or does it add value to my life?
