Now this is the average person’s problem when it comes to finances. There’s this need to be constantly buying things, you are constantly being advertised to, you’re constantly seeing your friends and your family on social media doing things and consuming things that leads you to also wanting to do things and consume things hence overspending is on 1000%!

Yet you find too often that, not long after doing the thing or buying that thing, the joy that you thought you would have quickly diminishes and you are left asking yourself why exactly did I spend my money on those things? It is the craziest phenomenon!

So today I’m just going to share five tips to help you try and rein in or regulate how you spend on things! I’m hoping these are useful and that you think of them first before you buy or do anything.

1. Stop notifications for sales discounts from your favourite shops.

2. Stop scrolling as soon as you get the feeling, stop scrolling, shut it and put the phone away!

3. Unfollow people that influence you to buy things or to do things that you cannot afford.

4. Wait 24 to 48 hours before you click buy in your basket.

5. Understand your spending triggers and be aware of them and find coping mechanisms to avoid them.

I hope that these five tips will help you to stop overspending and to think before you do something that you’re gonna regret or that will harm your financial goals!
